SERIES,Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
HOME WORLD,Suwa, Nihon (old world Japan)
APPEARENCE,Kurogane's strength is not just skin deep. He shows it in his broad squared shoulders, his strong height, and most specifically, in his intimidating stare. His crimson irises are unique in color and his hair is raven black, giving him the natural colors of someone who's seen battle and knows how to handle it. The shinobi doesn't have a specific style. In fact he likes to keep himself dressed as ordinary and plain as possible. His dark hair is always combed back out of his eyes in an endearing spiky mess, though a few strands do escape to dangle in his eyes.
Kurogane is usually seen donning his armor from his home world. This armor has seen many battles and bears evidence of each one in scrapes and cracks only close inspection would reveal. The armor consists of a black helm with the crescent symbol of Tomoyo upon the forehead, shoulder plates, torso and arm guards and an old worn black cape to drape over it all. The armor reflects his own personal colors: black and red.
In the rare occasions-- or when his armor isn't available to him-- Kurogane settles either with a plain cotton tee and whatever slacks/jean fabric he could find for pants, or anything that's familiar to him from his home world such as yukatas.
A new addition to his features is the mechanical Piffle arm attached to his left shoulder. The arm is new to Kurogane after sacrificing the real one to save Fai from his own caving world. He often finds where the metal of his new arm meet the skin of his shoulder to give him pain or a sense of soreness-- especially when the weather is cool. He still hasn't gotten entirely used to it.
PERSONALITY,The few that have encountered Kurogane would describe him as fierce, determined and unwavering. While he stands himself off as appearing mildly indifferent, he is incredibly perceptive and observant. He could be considered as the type of person to be able to sense a change in a person's emotional state, which gives him an ability to detect lies. All his time spending standing at the sidelines when appropriate and watching carefully honed this skill to perfection.
And while he may seem cool, quiet, and standoffish, Kurogane has a flip side to him. He is a bit of a worry wart. He won't tell you outright that he's worried or feeling uncomfortable about something, but will stand by ready to catch, protect and guard those close to him in the only way he knows how. He also has a small temper problem and will fly off the handle with threats and curses, but he has never been known to follow through. Kurogane would not hurt anyone unnecessarily. His patience is also easily broken despite it all.
The temper and lack of patience is actually a new thing for him. Kurogane had spent years being a shinobi of the battle field in his home world, and nothing else much mattered. No one ever got under his skin or ever found a soft side until he met Syaoran, Princess Sakura, Mokona, and Fai. Coming together with these people and traveling through thick and thin has certainly softened the once harsh and merciless shinobi. The travels with them had taught him what it meant to have friends-- to love someone-- what true strength really is.

HISTORY,
Kurogane's history did not start off on a happy note. Born and raised in Suwa, Nihon, he was the son of the Lord of his home town and was expected to grow strong like his dad and take the title as Lord too some day. However, hitsuzen had other plans for the boy and, barely in his teen years, Kurogane was faced with the destruction of everything he's ever known.
In one night his mother was cut down by a man we later learn as Fei Wong. In consequence of his mother's death, the barrier she had worked up around Suwa had collapsed and allowed in the dark demons of Nihon that had been stalking the small town to finally breach its walls. His father fought to his last breath, leaving the boy alone as his world fell apart around him. Distraught and confused for the reasons why this was happening, Kurogane succumbed to a primal instinct that shattered everything in his mind except the desperate need to protect-- even if what's done has already been done.
Clutching his mother's corpse, his father's blade in hand, Kurogane refused to fall and attacked anyone and anything that dare to cross the boundaries of his ruined home. Here, in this state, he met Princess Tomoyo, and with her powers as a priestess, she calmed Kurogane's broken heart.
Leaving the destruction of his home behind, Kurogane abandoned his true name and everything attached to it to become a shinobi at Princess Tomoyo's side. He grew to be a fierce opponent on the battle field and was virtually unmatched. However, despite Kurogane believing he was making excellent progress as a weapon for the princess, Tomoyo couldn't bare to see him continue down his path. Hitsuzen had plans, and Tomoyo would do all she could in her power to change that. Fei Wong would not get his pawn of the Suwa clan.
Summoning Kurogane, Tomoyo had banished the confused shinobi to another world with a task to discover what true strength really is. In this new world, he met a witch named Yuuko. And through that witch, he would join Syaoran, Princess Sakura, Fai and Mokona on a journey that would change him forever.
Now stuck with this new group, bounding through different worlds and alternate realities, Kurogane was at first bitter about the whole ordeal and refused to help recover Sakura's lost memories. He just wanted to return home. But after spending some time with them, he found that they all sort of grew on him. Syaoran was the first he connected with in the boy's desire to become stronger to protect Sakura and his talent with a sword. Sakura and Fai quickly wormed their way into his heart as well, and before he knew what had happened, he was aiding them in anything without question.
The bonds between them grew with every world they traveled to and with every mystery they unfolded. Their connections with one another strengthened that much more when their true enemy was revealed to the playing board: Fei Wong. The same man who killed his mother. Kurogane was faced with choices he still to this day does not regret making. He did not regret the moment Fai was at death's doorstep and to save him, he sacrificed his blood to turn the magician into a vampire. He didn't even regret it when he had scarified his own sword arm to save that same magician from a crumbling world. He never regretted a thing, because Kurogane had come to love and cherish these people, and it didn't matter what he gave up to keep all of them together. Even in the battle against Fei Wong, he had pushed himself far past the lines of his limits just to finish the man that had caused everything to go wrong.
But in the end, the battles were finished and no one was left behind. Sakura has her memories back and is safe back home in her own world. Syaoran however, due to a price he paid to make sure Sakura returned home safely, continued to travel worlds. He and Fai decided to continue their own travels as well and joined the boy.
Kurogane's story may have started terribly, but it will have a wonderfully happy ending.
