Hello, my name is Hiko, and I lurk forums.
(Crowd: Hello, Hiko~)
I'm a mostly-harmless ROUS (That's Reader of Unusual Silliness, not to be confused with those dreadful rodents in The Princess Bride), who tends to flock to whatever new forum Inailicious (Watanuki to the rest of you) has created.
My writing style is hardly collegian, as I tend to throw out more hyphens than any professor would prefer - but please, don't hold it against me.
I tend to prefer characters that aren't quite the desired stock; a broken machine here, an ugly lowborn there, perhaps even a mage that can't touch her own mana pool or a psychic that can't read a full thought in someone's mind. I try my best to make bad situations worse for my characters, and I usually love every minute of it.
Should I list my likes and dislikes? Well, it seems to be the popular thing.
MUSIC
Kate Covington, Michelle Dockrey, Abney Park, and Beats Antique
I don't listen to a lot of new music, outside of when someone shoves something at me in a spazzy moment - but that's not to say I don't like new things. I just don't venture out of what I already have on my laptop, all that often.
LITERATURE
Oh, I had to get asked this, didn't I?
I read a lot of high fantasy. Typically, I'm not often without a copy of something from A Song of Ice and Fire, from George R.R. Martin, and I'm a little ashamed to say that even after a year of downtime, I'm still a walking Pern encyclopaedia, thanks to multiple years of reading Anne McCaffrey (and, I'll be honest - I still get choked up remembering that the old girl died earlier in November of last year).
But, you wanted a list.
Jim Butcher, Shannon Hale, Victoria Hanley, Lian Hearn, Stephen King, Gregory Maguire, George R.R. Martin, and Anne McCaffrey
There are more that I still need to try out, but these are the authors that have used the most space on my bookshelves.
ANIME AND MANGA
Anime: Chobits, Cowboy Bebopy, Highschool of the Dead, Witch Hunter Robin, and Wolf's Rain.
I think I have a thing for Sunrise/Bones. :x
Manga: Angel Sanctuary, Emma, and Naruto
I don't read manga as much as I used to, so I really only felt the need to keep the ones I'll still crack open.
MOVIES AND TELEVISION
Ohboy.
Movies: Any and all Disney films, Clue, The Fifth Element, Galaxy Quest, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead
If you can't tell, I like a little comedy with my scifi.
Television: Battlestar Galactica (2004 series), Being Human (UK), Camelot, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, Firefly, Game of Thrones, House M.D., Once Upon a Time
GAMES
My entire gaming existence ended when I discovered Dragon Age: Origins.
Seriously. I love that game.
Anyway:
Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II, Final Fantasy (I-VI, IX, X, XII), Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Pokemon SoulSilver, Shadow of Destiny, and EVERY TOWER DEFENSE GAME EVER
(I may be a little addicted to the TD games on Kongregate.)
CLAMP
I'm only overly familiar with Chobits.
Yeah. I suck.
ROLEPLAY EXPERIENCE
Ahem.
THIRTEEN YEARS OF MOTHERFUCKING PERN
(And I'm still writing with roughly the same people.)
Through Pern, I've played everything from drudges to Lords of the Hold, and the knowledge that my own creation's been running around for ten years this May both gives me great pride and a horrible feeling that I've wasted a decade of my life.
Final Fantasy: Maria (II), Faris (V), Celes (VI), Terra (VI)
Kingdom Hearts: Namine
Naruto: OCs
Wonderland Circus: Cheshire and Eliss Liddell
...
There are more RPs, but I can't recall all of them. D: /sad
